And for you, What is happiness ? Having a good job ? To be rich to be able to buy everything you want? Or nothing of all material? Today, we live in a society that drives us constantly to consumption and which leads us to believe that happiness is necessarily in the property. In short, we spend our time to run after an impossible ideal, for as soon as we obtain the object of our desires, we immediately want more.
It is from this observation that the artist left Steve Cutts to realize "Happiness". This masterful film is a true satire of our modern society where humans have been replaced ... by some rats. This remarkably realized short film shows us rats that live in a world similar to ours : they crowd in the subway to go to work, fight to buy products at Black Friday, drink to forget their troubles, dream of having a race car ... And if these small rodents give us the impression to find happiness each time, they are quickly caught up in the reality.
This surprising creation will surely not cheer you up, nor amuse you. But the gravity of the exposed subjects and the fact of having used rats as protagonists to reinforce the dramatic and stifling side of the stagingwill inevitably open your eyes to this society that leads us to believe that happiness is in consumption. Creepy.
And if you're interested in short films with a satirical goal, we invite you to discover this hypnotic movie who denounces the same subject with a very different style!
