Jack Storms: the master of cold glass sculpture will captivate you with his creations

Glass art, or the faculty of sculpting glass, has existed for a long time. It was invented by thePhoenicians before being developed by Romans to finally settle in the culture with the stained glass religious monuments. Over the ages, the techniques have developed rapidly and today there is a multitude: blowing, cast iron, glass paste, sculpture hot or cold ... It is particularly the latter, the most traditional that interests us today 'hui.

The artist we are going to talk to you about is considered "One of the three rare craftsmen of cold glass" in the USA. His name ? Jack Storms. And believe us, his creations will bluff you with their precision, their visual effects and other optical illusions that emerge.

Jack Storms is one of the world's greatest glass carvers 🥃

To perform such fascinating artistic prowess, the artist simply uses water, diamond tools and some special machines that he himself customized.

Jack Storms transforms blocks of glass into everyday objects: a baseball bat, a bottle of champagne, flutes, glasses ... Nothing seems to stop his creativity as he masters the technique behind his art. To proceed, he cuts, cuts and polishes the glass hundreds of times. He likes to say that his passion is a mixture of art, mathematics and science, he likes to play with the continuation of Fibonacci to create perfect reflections and illusions in the glass.

A perfection that even the loss of his left eye (after an accident) did not start. An accident that could have swept his career but that he managed to transform into strength both his concentration and his desire for perfection were intense.

I had to relearn my hands to judge the distances ... It was a pretty difficult year, but I came out, I think, with better designs and more technique.

If, however, you fall in love with his art, you suspect that it will be worth the price. His sculptures take between 5 weeks and several years to be completed and are spread out over 5000 euros over 100,000 euros for the most complex and imposing.
