Norway puts out surprisingly modern banknotes with a minimalist and pixelated design

Change the appearance of a Bank noteit's not something innocuous. So inevitably, when such a project is put on the carpet, many agencies respond to the tender. If we're talking about this today, it's because the Norway has just put new tickets bank resolutely minimalist.

Imagined by the studioSnøhetta, these notes sport a design colored and pixelated. At the time of writing, only 50 and 500 crowns were put into circulation but the studio also imagined those of 100 and 200 crowns.

Bank notes with a modern and minimalist design 💸

A job that asked for more than 4 years reflection and development. And if we take a closer look, these notes sport a design much more subtle than they seem. Each of the mosaics brings out the beauty of Norwegian coasts, considered the largest ofEurope. The studioSnøhetta expresses himself on this subject:

By linking the metaphor of the coastline to a graphic expression inspired by ancient artifacts in glass mosaics or colored stones, the designers have translated this analogous art form into the contemporary mosaic: the pixel. In this sense, the design of the banknotes represents new frontiers, past and present.

In any case, these new notes have already been adopted by the Norway, and show that one can bring a touch of modernity to pieces as traditional, and finally anchored in society, as banknotes.
