If there is a city where the bike is king, it is without a doubt Amsterdam. Did you know that every day, Amstellodamois pedal more than 2 million kilometers ? That over this same period they produce19.5 million kwh ? Numbers that make you dizzy and that have put the flea in the ear to two creative who imagined S-Park.
Guillaume Roukhomovsky and Blaž Verhnjak were inspired by the enormous potential of the capital of the Netherlands to work on an ingenious concept. S-Park is a bicycle parking which, at first glance, is nothing extraordinary except its design in the form of S. Yet, it hides a feature that would use a completely green energy: that of your calves.
The idea of S-Park relies primarily on the massive installation of special front wheels that have the ability to store the energy produced by the pedal strokes in a battery. Once you have finished pedaling, you just have to slide the front wheel of the bike in the device to connect the battery. The energy will thus be released to be used by the city (to light street lights, for example) where to the neighborhood's consumer network for daily life (light houses, etc ...).
A good idea that is only a concept today, but still deserves a lot of attention. Indeed if more and more cities make a place more and more great to cyclists, then S-Park would be an ingenious solution to produce a electricity green, moreover, would originate the sports effort of the citizens.
An initiative developed within the framework ofWhat Can Can Clean Energy Challenge, a global competition that encourages creative people to come up with ideas for cleaner cities.
