When nature and the arts get married, there is nothing more beautiful. And precisely, it's a Canadian artist who took advantage of the freezing weather of his region to create a surprising work ... that will disappear with time. A poetic initiative with delicate charm. Explanations.
Nicole Dextras created an impressive installation with a little twist ... iced! By exploring themes such as the environment and the ephemeral, this artist has made a collection of Frozen Textiles which transforms ordinary vintage dresses into chunks of ice and in all its beautiful bouquet bigger than life!
Also inspired by the science fiction and the fantaisy, this installation of ethereal bouquet captures the interest of Nicole for nature reinvented! By using nothing but a spray of water and exploiting the (very) low temperatures of her country, Nicole has frozen a selection of 15 dresses, all dating from 1940-1950! Over the next few days, the ice began to cover each garment individually, thus freezing every rustle, every tiny detail and every skirt in sublime fabric petals.
Once metamorphosis magic of each completed dress, Nicole arranged them all and gathered in one colossal bouquet, an explosion of bright colors and delicate details formed by the natural biodiversity. Unfortunately, this floral arrangement lasted only a few days. But after all, that was the goal: to prove that everything is ephemeral.
An original creation, full of meaning and poetic as we would like to see more often! Imagine seeing such an installation in your usual park. Fun, no? In any case, this culture of nature does its little effect, that's for sure. At Creapills, we love, and you?
