When we love sport and the dresses, why choose ? In 2019, more than ever, stereotypes have a hard time. Because yes, we can be a girl and love to work on a lot. In order to put an end to sexist shots and the revolting remarks, sometimes even uttered by their own mothers, a photographer decided to act. It's about stopping the categorization of these little ones as "missed boys", "chochottes" or "princesses". Who says girls can not be free to choose?
The photographer and mom Heather Mitchell, from Alabama, had a genius idea while she was chatting with another mother during the softball training of her youngest daughter. Aged 8 years, this one is trying out this brand new sport for the first time.
I was saying that I hoped Paislee would learn to love to play because she is athletic. One of the moms told me that she was not athletic, but far too feminine. I could not sleep that night. All I thought was, why should she choose?
She then explains that she herself tried every sport at her school and that she wore her lipstick at every party! So the next day, she brought her daughter in his studio and took a picture of it. Knowing exactly what she wanted, Heather spent only three minutes shooting.
The resulting photos have become viral since, being shared near 200 000 time on the Facebook page of his studio HMP Couture Imagery ; thus allowing the world to discover what these little girls are really capable of!
It's important for these girls to know that there are no limits. They can be feminine and athletic, artists and intelligent. Whatever their dreams matter, they can accomplish everything.
So half-princess, half-sport, these little ones are true swinging. A sublime series of portraits, which demonstrate that there is no label to stick on children, and this, from their youngest age. They will decide later, as they wish; that's the progress!
